Unique challenges that were faced and how they were overcome
Intersection was in the Abita Springs Historic District with the Tammany Trace pedestrian and bicycle facility adjacent to the intersection. Overcame challenges by selecting the smallest diameter roundabout possible to accommodate design vehicles while minimizing RW taking. Were able to purchase a non-contributing bUilding to the historic district to provide extra space for roundabout. Worked with Mayor, Town Council and business owners to accommodate needs during construction.
