Project Abstract

A view of downtown San Bernardino and the parking lot that the community hoped would become a central square.



The square 9 months after the project began, with turf replacing a portion of the parking lot and one of the many regular programmed events in progress.

In its final form, sidewalk extensions and diagonal parking help to narrow the street visually without reducing its capacity.
