The U.S. Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) has launched a new website that highlights information developed and compiled by the FHWA and its partners that is designed to strengthen planning and environment linkages. The site includes links to information on the benefits of using a planning and environment linkages approach; some first steps for getting started; practices from states; relevant provisions in the Safe, Accountable, Flexible, Efficient Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users; contacts; and additional resources. According to the FHWA, planning and environment linkages represent an approach to transportation decision making that considers environmental, community, and economic goals early in the planning stage and carries them through project development, design, and construction.
